The Daily Draw: Page of Swords

Page of SwordsI don’t know about you, but this is the first time I’ve seen my office space since around lunchtime December 23rd, which is why you haven’t heard from me in a while (that and the drastic flu symptoms I had mid-month). Sure, Friday could have been a working day, but like many people around me I decided to start 2015 with a three day weekend (not counting the other nine and a half days I’d already been off)

I think the Page of Swords is as good a card as any to gently nudge in the first working week of the year. It says to me “Time to wake up now. After a couple of weeks filled mostly with child play at a single-digit age level (highly recommended), you need to realize that you are actually an adult with commitments and responsibilities, such as getting the children who actually are in single digits back to school.” Accepting this can be difficult, but in your heart you know it’s the truth.

The Page of Swords is also a reminder that it’s time to start using the left side of your brain again. Get those little grey cells moving before you really need them, which will be soon enough.

Re-entry into the daily routine can be a bit of a shock, even a let down. The page of swords reminds us that we have the inner fortitude to take on whatever comes our way. Not just a Monday, but the challenges and opportunities on offer in 2015. Stand up and look the day squarely in the eye. Let others drag themselves through it if they must. You know you’re up to the challenge.
