January is where the seeds of the year are planted, a good time for devising the plans and strategies that will help you achieve what you desire over the next twelve months. It can be useful to draw on the energy of the Three of Wands for this task, because among its aspects are foresight, vision, and the ability to see down the road at how what you begin today will manifest somewhere down the road.
It’s often said that if you can imagine it you can achieve it, and I believe that’s true. But a complimentary, common theme is that you need to meet the universe at a point where you can receive what it is trying to give you. And that, my friends, requires a bit of what my dad used to call elbow grease. And to get the most out of that effort, you want to think about what, why, how, where and when to put in that effort. You can climb a mountain, but you can’t walk out of the pub at half eleven half-cocked and expect to scale Everest before sunrise.
Take some time to plan out what you want to do, what direction you want to go in. Meditate on it – the Three of Wands can also indicate some insight, intuition or vision that can help you achieve your goals, or perhaps even discover what they are. Set realistic goals and milestones – try not to overwhelm yourself which can bring on discouragement and invalidation. Take your time – you don’t need to have all the answers in one go. Do some research, some reading, take a course, find someone who can answer your questions.
Then don’t forget to put your plans in action. Imagining the journey is no substitute for actually taking it, but some forethought and planning might help make it go more smoothly.
I’ve recently blogged on this card focusing on leadership. You can read that post here.
